The CNBC.com Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge returns, with trading starting on November 17. The contest is similar in format to the one CNBC ran earlier this summer, lasting ten weeks in duration with the slight twist of having the weekly winners and top 10 portfolio holders return at the end of week 10 for a final two-week playoff round. The grand prize is half a million bucks with the runner up receiving $200,000 and the third place contestant getting a somewhat less cooler six figure sum of $100,000. There are also some pretty nice weekly prizes like tickets to the 2009 MLB All Star Game, a trip to Caesar's Palace Las Vegas or a Sharp Home Entertainment Package.
During the last contest, we posted daily Bonus Bucks trivia questions and answers, portfolio strategies and stock tips, and showed how our own portfolio fared on a weekly basis. We made it as high as #125 last time, almost doubling the value of our portfolio by the time the contest finished. We’re hoping we can further polish our trading skills and perhaps get a spot on the leader board this time around.
